Over the next 3 weeks Year 11 students who have applied to the Sixth Form will be interviewed by the Senior Leadership Team. This is an opportunity for applicants to discuss career aspirations and ‘A’ Level/BTEC subject choices. Each student has received an appointment slip showing the date and time of their interview.

I am writing to you to draw your attention to updated advice on coronavirus.
The advice says ‘Parents will be aware of concerns following news of a small number of confirmed coronavirus patients in Europe, including in Northern Italy and Tenerife. This has coincided with the half term break, when many schools support students with travel including ski trips.
Arnold Hill Academy has not had half-term travel to areas where there are confirmed coronavirus diagnoses; however, we appreciate that parents may have arranged independent travel during half-term.
Government advice is that any families who have returned from Iran, specific areas of Northern Italy comprising thirteen towns south of Milan, identified areas in South Korea or in Hubei province in China in the last fourteen days should stay indoors and contact NHS 111. This advice applies whether or not there is anyone showing the flu-like symptoms associated with coronavirus in the home.
The Spencer Academies Trust continues to monitor NHS advice closely, and is acting under advice from Public Health England.
Advice available from Trust websites will be updated daily throughout the week beginning 24 February.
I have included below the link to a poster produced by the Department for Education, and which has been posted in school.’
Our Year 7 students took part in an assembly with the author Dan Walker this week. Dan talked about his work as an author, and about the process of getting a book published.
Our students were an absolute credit to the school, and Dan was really impressed with how engaged the whole year group is with reading. The students were able to buy books and get them signed, the queue was never ending!
It was a great afternoon, well done Year 7.
What an amazing weekend for our talented skaters at the synchronised skating British Championships, hosted at the Motorpoint Arena, Nottingham.
In total Arnold Hill have three students and one teacher with a fantastic haul of five British titles and gold medals, a truly inspirational achievement!
This Christmas, could you spare five minutes to search your cupboards and help a local family?
Spencer schools work with communities, supporting pupils and students from early years to young adulthood.
To help keep our growing families warm, staff in our schools have volunteered to run the Spencer Warm Hearts, Warm Coats appeal, designed to ensure all of our children and students have warm winter clothes this year.
From Tuesday 10th December we will be collecting winter coats and shoes, scarves, hats and gloves meeting school dress codes to donate across our group of schools.
Items will be collected between 10th and 13th December, and will be distributed during the last week of term. All items will be offered to pupils and students in our schools in the first instance.
To limit the need for sorting, parents are asked to only donate items that meet uniform expectations and in condition to be used by another family.
We will particularly appreciate coats that children may have grown out of, but which may have years of wear left in them. Any leftover items will be donated to Operation Orphan, a local charity working with families in Nottingham.
Toasty toes aid concentration, and being warm and comfortable in school makes a huge difference to our pupils and students. Please help if you can.
With thanks and warm good wishes for the holiday season.
