Most Able Students Visit Magdalen College
A small group of our Most Able Year 12 students recently enjoyed a taster day at the University of Oxford, Magdalen College. Accompanied by Ms Carter, Head of Sixth Form, they were taken on a tour of the beautiful grounds (including a deer park), talked to students currently studying at Oxford, delighted in a two course lunch and had a Classics lecture. Our students were absolutely fantastic and represented the academy brilliantly. Everyone involved agreed it was the perfect way to spend a Monday!

Sportshall Athletics at Arnold Hill
On Tuesday 7th February, Arnold Hill Academy welcomed children from eight local primary schools as we hosted the Y3/4 Sportshall Athletics, Heat 3. Pupils from All Hallows, Arnold View, Arno Vale, Killisick, Parkdale, Lowdham, Stanhope and Westdale Juniors came along to the event in our new sports hall, and competed in a variety of throwing, jumping and running relay events.
The atmosphere throughout the afternoon was absolutely fantastic, and reached fever pitch during the relay races with every athlete showing great enthusiasm during their events.
Congratulations to Arno Vale who won the heat and now progress to the finals. Well done to all of the schools for the hard work they put in on the day, and the preparation that had obviously gone in prior to the event.

Former Pupil Signs for LCWFC
We've had some great news about former Arnold Hill pupil, Katie Waddell. Katie first started playing football when she was just four years old and while she was still at juniors got the chance to train with David Beckham and other Real Madrid stars after winning a footballing competition. Katie was signed for Doncaster Belles, and from there joined St Leo's University Soccer School, Florida on a scholarship. Last week it was announced that she will be moving back to England to play for Leicester City Women Football Club, the press announcement can be viewed here.
We are so pleased with the success she has had academically in the US and also in her football career after her time at Arnold Hill Academy.
