Brian Newson takes on the half-iron distance triathlon
In less than two weeks one of our PE teachers, Brian Newson, will be taking on the challenge of a half-iron distance triathlon. He has completed a number of sporting challenges over the years and always been asked why he hasn’t used them to raise money. The Cotswold Classic is a half-iron distance triathlon and is by far the hardest challenge he has taken on however, it is nothing compared to the daily challenges that his good friend, and family, go through each day with their son Tommy who has been diagnosed with Dravet Syndrome.
Dravet Syndrome is a severe form of epilepsy with frequent and prolonged seizures, developmental delay and speech impairment. So while Brian is swimming 1.2 miles, cycling 56 miles and running 13.1 miles, he will be motivated by the thought that completing it will have raised some funds for a little known charity that makes all the difference to children like Tommy and their families. If you can spare a few pounds (or more) then Brian’s Just Giving page is https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/brian-newson-dravet-syndrome
Thanks for reading and have a great summer.
