World Book Day!

WBD1WBD2

On Wednesday 6th March the author Tamsin Winter visited Arnold Hill Academy to talk to some of our year 7 & 8 students about her books & her life as a children’s author.

Tamsin’s book Being Miss Nobody is currently on the shortlist for the Nottinghamshire Brilliant Book Award 2019 & our year 7 & 8 book group are in the process of reading all of the books nominated for this award.

We also welcomed students from George Spencer Academy, Fernwood School & Kirkby College. Two amazing students, Anna & Emily, from George Spencer even made Tamsin a cake which she happily shared!

Charlotte Allsopp in year 8 said that she loved meeting the author & that the session had helped her to gain an insight in to some of the mental health issues that  many young people have to struggle with on a daily basis.

Tamsin finished the session by saying that “More than anything, I hope my stories teach young people to believe in themselves. Because that's what makes magical things happen”.
