Under 14 boys through to Forest Vase final
Our Year 9 boys’ football team played Bluecoat at home last night in the semi-final of the under 14 Forest Vase competition 2017 – 2018.
A cagey start from both teams meant few chances on goal. Each team then started to exert more influence going forward with Bluecoat nearly capitalising on their aerial dominance from set plays. The deadlock was broken halfway through the first half when pressure from the Arnold Hill forwards lead to a chance for Yusuf to dribble and finish from a tight angle. Bluecoat continued to create opportunities though the Arnold Hill defence and the goalkeeper Alfie, making his debut in goal, managed to do enough to prevent Bluecoat from scoring. A well worked move on the left hand side by the Arnold Hill midfield led to Louis racing down the wing and producing a low cross for Zeki to finish at the second time of asking, meaning Arnold Hill led 2-0 at half time.
As expected Bluecoat started the second half strongly and went close on a number of occasions, still dominating from set pieces. Arnold Hill were struggling to get the ball and the pressure finally paid off with 10 minutes to go as Bluecoat scored to make it 2-1. With Bluecoat pushing forward to score their needed equaliser they were leaving space at the back which Arnold Hill capitalised on with Zeki calmly slotting home a third with 5 minutes to go.
Congratulations on a great team performance from Alfie, Hugh, Dan, Toby, Ethan, Josh, Louis, Josh, Yusuf, Connor, Zeki, Matt and Nizar. We wish the team all the best when they play Toot Hill in the final!
