About the PTA

We are fortunate to have a PTA that has been an integral part of the school community for many years. Each year, the PTA works hard to support the Academy by hosting various fundraising events and initiatives. In its time the PTA has raised many thousands of pounds, which have been spent on equipment and resources to enhance school facilities and the students' education experience.

Membership of the association is available to all parents and carers of students on roll and staff in the Academy. All parent/carers automatically become members of our PTA when their child joins the Academy.

The PTA is looking for new members and helpers for school events, your support could really make a difference.

You are warmly invited to attend our next meeting to find out more about the work of the association. We would be delighted to see you, please confirm your attendance by emailing This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Kind regards

Meetings

AGM

Our AGM is held every November and provides an opportunity for parent/carers to come along and hear in more detail about the work of the PTA, the events we run, the funds we have raised and how the money has been spent. It is also the occasion when we elect our new committee members.

Fundraising

The majority of our funds are raised through the events that we run such as fashion shows and pamper evenings.

We also support the following two websites:
www.thegivingmachine.co.uk – free donations every time you buy on line.
www.everyclick.com – whenever you search the web with everyclick you are raising money for the Academy.

Donations

We endeavour to spend our funds in ways that benefit all students across all areas of the Academy and curriculum.
Most recently we have donated £220 to the Chess Club for the purchase of chess clocks and sets to help the club as they progressed through a regional competition. We also made a contribution towards the purchase of seeds and plants for the Arnold Hill Flower Festival which takes place on Friday 24 June when we welcome children from Chernobyl as part of our Year 7 Project Based Learning.

We have helped the Drama department purchase a video camera, and our athletics team are now sporting new PTA supported vests whenever they compete!

Last year we were pleased to assist our Science and Design and Technology departments with their purchases of a Lego Mindstorm Evo 3 and a 3D printer. We also allocated funding to the Music department to help with the equipment hire for the "We Will Rock You" performances.

3D Printer

The PE department was the first to get funding in November 2014 for Sports Leader polo shirts which help students be recognised when helping younger students in the junior schools in the area and at the academy.

Getting Involved

There are lots of ways you can help and support your child through the PTA. It doesn’t matter if you can’t help on a regular basis – just a few hours help at one of the events would be invaluable. There are also jobs that can be done from home if you can’t come into school – we are always looking for poster designers or people to prepare tickets for events. If you would like to be more involved you can volunteer to be a committee member – we usually hold two meetings per term.

Craft and Food Fair 2016

Wow - What a Great Day!

On Saturday 20 November, the school’s new auditorium was transformed into a vibrant and bustling community space as the Arnold Hill Academy PTA held their annual Craft and Food Fair. Over 600 people came along to the event and with a diverse range of handcrafted goods on offer, from jewellery, cards and Christmas trees, to garden ornaments, clothing and craft items made by our students, there truly was something for everyone.

Interest in the raffle was exceptionally high, and with some fantastic prizes on offer, thanks to some very generous donations from local businesses and community members, we sold almost as many tickets on the day as we had in previous weeks! A full list of our prizewinners is given below.

Planning the fair is no mean feat. As our biggest fundraiser of the year, a small group of dedicated school staff, parents and volunteers worked tirelessly both in the lead up to the event and on the day itself to ensure it was a great success. Initial feedback from attendees and stallholders has been incredibly positive and we’ve already received a request to book a stall for next year’s event!

Whether you baked a cake for us to sell, pounded the streets delivering flyers, donated a teddy for the tombola, supported our raffle, gave up your free time to move furniture to and from the classrooms both before and after the event, or simply came along to spend your pennies, the PTA would like to say a massive “Thank You”.

The grand total raised was a fantastic £4,740; all of which will be spent enhancing our students' educational experience.
